  • 2 Tbsp Honey maple syrup can be used for sweetness

  • 1 Tbsp Garlic minced
  • 1 Tbsp Black Peppercorns ground black pepper can be used
For Serving
  • Steamed Jasmine Rice can substitute with brown rice
  • Fresh Herbs such as cilantro or green onions, optional

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Arrange the Chicken: Place bone-in chicken pieces in a large pot in a single layer.
  2. Prepare the Marinade: Combine soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, vegetable oil, minced garlic, bay leaves, and black peppercorns in a bowl.
  3. Marinate the Chicken: Pour marinade over chicken and refrigerate for at least 8 hours.
  4. Add Water and Start Cooking: Add enough water to cover chicken, bring to a boil, then simmer for 30 minutes.
  5. Broil the Chicken: Remove chicken from pot, broil for 5 to 10 minutes until skin is golden brown.
  6. Reduce the Marinade: Boil the remaining liquid until reduced by half, about 10 minutes.
  7. Baste and Serve: Baste broiled chicken with reduced marinade and serve over steamed rice.
