Step-by-Step Instructions
- Start by softening the butter and spreading it evenly on one side of each slice of rye bread—6 slices total.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with sea salt, ground black pepper, and onion powder until well blended. Shape the mixture into patties.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side. Lower the heat and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, real bacon bits, sweet relish, and white sugar until smooth and well combined.
- In the skillet, place a slice of unbuttered bread with the buttered side down. Spread sauce on the unbuttered side, add a patty followed by cheese, then top with another slice of buttered bread.
- Cook the sandwich over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Press down gently with a spatula.
- Once both sides are golden and cheese is melted, remove from skillet, let rest for a minute, slice, and serve with crispy fries or salad.
