- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Push whole cloves into the skin of the two oranges, reserving 6-7 for the spiced syrup.
- Roast the prepared oranges in a baking dish for 45-50 minutes.
- Combine 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar in a saucepan with the spices, bringing it to a boil and then simmering.
- In a large pot, combine 750 ml red wine and 3/4 of your spiced syrup, gently heating.
- Squeeze the juice from the roasted oranges into the pot, adding the halves and 750 ml of Port wine.
- Heat the mixture gently once more, adjusting sweetness with remaining syrup if desired.
- Strain the mixture if desired, then ladle it into mugs and garnish.
